I’m not cheap by any means…actually yes I am. So when I see a palette doing the rounds on all social media and its the utter rage, I get so tempted to just find it online and purchase it myself to see what the fuss is about. So imagine my cheap ass reaction when I went onto Cult Beauty and saw that the Modern Renaissance palette cost £41! ‘Are you having a laugh!?’ 14 colours for £41…. Nah, in the words of Justin Bieber, “WHAT DO YOU MEAN”. Logging off an accepting I will make do with my Morphe palettes, I tried so hard to not give the Modern Renaissance palette a second thought. But, YouTube, Instagram, Pinterest etc just came shoving it in my face and seeing the gorgeous looks created on everyone who had the palette, I succumbed and bought it, even paying £7.95 for delivery to get it within 1-2 days! I really have some NERVE!
Thank you Jesus for subconsciously throwing this palette in my face at any given opportunity because it is so totally WORTH IT!
PACKAGING
Insert the love heart eye emoji because this palette is stunning. The outer packaging is in a sleek pink rectangle box with Modern Renaissance inked in white bold writing with Anastasia logo imprinted below. The palette packaging itself is a soft faux suede, which is very different to most palettes out there. Good too look at and soft too feel, it becomes very unattractive after a while when you notice all your thumb and fingerprints of makeup staining it. From being centre stage in your makeup space to it being placed in your IKEA Malm drawer. It comes also with a mirror which is an added bonus and very travel friendly. Then a double sided brush which I have to be honest I haven’t really used as its quite stiff and picks up far too much product than is needed.
FORMULA
Highly pigmented, buttery smooth, easy to blend, must I really go on! The formula is one of the best I have applied to my eyelids! Please be light handed when picking up product because its so intensely pigmented a little goes a long way. I remember when I first used it, I put ‘Burnt Orange’ on my brush to use as a transition colour and it practically covered my whole eyelids, (and I have big eyes) so lightly dab your brush on the powders.
LONGETIVITY
Once on your lids with a good primer of course, because who actually puts eyeshadow on their lids without one? (No shade) the shadow is going nowhere! No settling into creases, no separation, just nicely put in place till you are ready to take it off. Bearing in mind I have only used this palette on special occasions (mostly night time) so I’m not sure if the same can be said if I wear it all day at work. I will do an updated review in the future.
COLOUR
The Modern Renaissance contains 14 quality powders, 11 of them being matte shadows and 3 metallic shades. From eye watering berry tones, earthy mattes and blinging metallics, for me this palette is for your warm toned neutral lover who wants to up her game with more intense, rich , powerful warmer colours.

- Golden Ochre is earthy yellow with a matte finish

PRICE
Like I said above £41 from Cult Beauty and £7.95 for delivery, and I don’t regret it one bit. For the quality and precision of this beaut, its totally worth it. Yes you could possibly find great dupes, but for the complete feeling you get once you finally get your hands on this cult product cant compare to any dupe, and is why its very much deserving of the price they ask for.
PROS
- Highly Pigmented
- Easy to blend
- Non chalky
- Suits all skin tones
- Suitable to wear for all seasons
- Travel Friendly
CONS
- Fall out of product when dipping your brush
- Faux suede of packaging can get easily dirty

So as you can see this is a 5 out of 5 for me, regardless of the kick up of the product and the high price, I would still purchase this over and over again and I’m so glad its a permanent palette for Anastasia Beverly Hills. Who has this Palette and what are your thoughts? Thank you so much for reading and I’ll see you in my next post.

I was considering getting This or the Rose Gold from Hudabeauty

I haven’t tried the rose gold but I heard that you have to use your fingers for more of the foiled colours which I’m not keen on, but ABH is now my new holy grail so I would def gear you more towards it 😂 💛

Laura! I hear you boy, when you can get a Morphe palette and have change from a £20 it’s hard to part with this kinda money on just one palette! The way I have been hinting about it I’m hoping it ends up as a present over this festive period! Great post, Love it! 😍

great review and what a prettypallette! I wish she would do an all matte version as shimmer is a no no on my hooded lids lol x

Thank you. I have horrible hooded lids too. A good primer or MAC medium glue to use beforehand should be able to keep shimmery colours in place xx
