February Favourites

Honestly it looks like 2016 is going to breeze by this year. I just remember doing my January favourites! (Or maybe my life is so dry?)

But I’m happy either way as I get to share with you guys my favourites of this month. From starting my blog I’ve really noticed that I have, and I mean A LOT of makeup, so I’ve tried really really extra hard to try not buy any makeup unless it was really needed! So this favourite is more versatile. I hope you enjoy. Let’s get started.

jumper H&M Basic Jumper £10.00

If I show you guys my jumper drawer/wardrobe I would be receiving the emoji eye roll from a lot of you. Simply I have to many! But I couldn’t resist when I saw this one in H&M and the fact that it had been reduced to £10 had me doing the catwalk to the tills. Its a cable-knit jumper in a cotton blend with dropped shoulders, long sleeves and ribbed cuffs and hem. I’ve worn this work with a nice pencil skirt and trousers, and also teamed with skinny jeans and trainers. Its a very versatile jumper.

Real Techniques Miracle Complexion sponge £5.99

The original beauty blender can go and have several seats, because this £5.99 dupe seals the deal for me all day everyday. My poor stippling brush just watches me from afar because this how now become my holy grail. I originally bought it to apply my concealer/ highlighter under my eye, but being in a rush one day I use it to apply my whole foundation and haven’t looked back since. Girls when I tell you that this sponge will have you looking flawlessly airbrushed , its not a joke. This sponge is only to be used with liquid foundation, concealer, anything liquid based really. Sam Chapman the creator of the Real Techniques range says this of the sponge.

Optimize your beauty routine with this 3-in-1 multi- functional sponge
  • Rounded sides – blend large areas of the face with a repeated “dabbing” or “stippling” motion
  • Precision tip – covers blemishes and imperfections
  • Flat edge – for the contours around the eyes and nose

Its versatile design evenly blends makeup for a smooth, enhanced finish, use with your favourite foundation to help reduce the appearance of pores

Above is a picture of me with full makeup on using the sponge.

Sleek.png

Sleek Eye and Cheek Palette (A Midsummers Dream) £9.99

I actually got this palette from boots, when they were doing a promotion. I had to purchase £10 worth of sleek products to receive the palette for free. I love this palette. Its the perfect handbag essential when you don’t have space to throw all your makeup products into a small bag.It comes with 4 eyeshadows and two blushers that are already a part of the Sleek range. The two blushes are Sunrise Blush and Suede Blush and the eyeshadows are from the Au Nuturel i-Divine Palette. I picked this palette because the colours are so simple and natural and are perfect to use if I need a little touch up at work. Plus I like that the blushes are total opposite. The suede is more pastel and Sunrise is more daring and a perfect highlighter. It also includes a little mini blusher brush and a mini eyeshadow brush too. As I’m sure the promotion is over you can still get the palette on its own from boots for £9.99.

Eyedew dazzling Eye Drops £3.03

I hate my eye’s with a passion. The fact that they are so big and bulging, its always the first thing people notice first. How does that Little Red Riding Hood story go… “My! What big eyes you have, Grandma!” she said in surprise. “All the better to see you with, my dear!” Yeah that me! It doesn’t help as well that I CAN NOT STAND WATER, so my blooming eyes have the tendency to look neon yellow with traces of bloodshot if I didn’t get a good night sleep (Thanks Son). I’ve always wanted to try eye drops to see if they really do give you that ‘sparkling, dazzling look’. Now its no Cilit Bang and the dirt is gone but it did make the whites of my eyes more brighter and glossier, which for me I cant complain. I’m pretty sure if I just grew up and be more sensible and drank some bloody water then I would see better results. But otherwise you eyes are nice and white, you might just get zalling eyes with this one.

maybelline pore eraser

Maybelline Instant Pore Eraser £7.99

Maybelline Instant Pore Eraser trumps all the high end similar products out there. I’ve been using this for over 2 years and love it as much as I did when I first bought it. It provides me with a nice matte finish and leaves my face looking slickdy slick. If I’m not wearing makeup when I’m indoors I like to still apply it as it makes my face feel so soft. the texture of the product is gel and it really does vanish pores (I only have small pores). Its really light and doesn’t leave your face feeling gloppy and thick. you do need to wait until the gel has set well onto your face before applying your foundation. Suitable for all skin types and tones.

NYX ABU DHABI.JPG

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream £5.50

NYX, NYX, NYX, I LOVE NYX! Liquid Lipsticks are the trend right now, everyone has at least got one or two in the makeup stash. When I saw that boots has started selling them i jumped at the chance to get one. (Hurry up ColourPop) NYX lip cream gives just as much of the same results as other liquid lipsticks as it’s finish is soft matte and feels very creamy. The colour I have got is Abu Dhabi which is a nice brown, with a hint of a rosy looking colour. The Smell of this lippie…. Arrrrgh, its like a vanilla cone ice cream, its delicious. Very Pigmented it goes on smoothly and it lasts for hours. I only need to retouch up once throughout the day. Its not a struggle to remove and for the price you just cant go wrong. I will definitely be purchasing more of their colours.

the husbands secret

The husbands Secret £7.99

Moving away from all things beauty, I’ve got a book recommendation for all you lovelies out there, that love a good drama book. As I’ve gone back to work, its got me reading again on that long journey commute into London. I picked this book up in Waterstones purely because of the name of the book. Now I know they say don’t judge a book by its cover but with a title like that you know your going to be all ‘Mmmm Hmmm what’s that all about!’. I’m only a couple chapters in and I’m hooked. If it wasn’t for work I would probably be done with this book as its really a page turner, you just want to know more, more and more. I love the style of writing the author Liane Moriarty has. After reading Little Lies, I had to get more of her books and as I said before the title of this book caught my attention straight away. Below is a Synopsis of the book taken from the Waterstones website.

“The Husband’s Secret is a staggeringly brilliant novel. It is literally unputdownable.” At the heart of the top ten bestselling The Husband’s Secret by Liane Moriarty is a letter that’s not meant to be read…Mother of three and wife of John-Paul, Cecilia discovers an old envelope in the attic. Written in her husband’s hand, it says: to be opened only in the event of my death. Curious, she opens it – and time stops. John-Paul’s letter confesses to a terrible mistake which, if revealed, would wreck their family as well as the lives of others. Cecilia – betrayed, angry and distraught – wants to do the right thing, but right for who? If she protects her family by staying silent, the truth will worm through her heart. But if she reveals her husband’s secret, she will hurt those she loves most.

Come on now! Who wouldn’t pick this book up?

appletiser

Appletiser £2.50 (750ml)

Now I thought I would finish of my February Faves with something real sweet and tangy. Appletiser has become my go to fizzy drink. Like I’ve said I don’t do water, and drinking 2 cans of Red Bull a day seems to be causing havoc to my health and well being (NO shit Laura). So I like to think this drink is a nice equilibrium of the two. Its apple flavoured so that’s 1 of my 5 a day right? *Side eye emoji* Its a sparkling fruit juice which has been created by blending fruit juice and carbonated water. There are other flavours such as Red and White Grapetiser and you usually drink this with meals and as an alternative to alcoholic drinks. Personally I drink this like its water!

So there you have my February Faves! What did you guys like in the month of February? Also I would love to know what you guys would recommend to me drink as a substitute to water. I need to break my fizzy drink habit. Cant wait to hear from you guys and I’ll see you in my next post.
